4 Best Painters Near Maggie Valley, NC Ranked by Chooz Score

At the time of our analysis, Huskey's Paint & Design carried a Chooz Score of 88.4%. The company is a registered North Carolina business entity, has been Accredited with the Better Business Bureau since 2024, and is led by owner Trent Huskey. Most projects begin with a free estimate and a walkthrough, with a project manager handling color selection and scheduling. It serves Sylva and the surrounding Western North Carolina counties, including Jackson, Haywood, Macon, and Swain.

Across its review profiles, the company held over 300 Google reviews with a 4.9-star rating, along with 100% recommended on Facebook. A 4.9 average held across more than 300 reviews is uncommon, since ratings usually slip as the review count climbs.

When we ran our analysis, Painting America had earned a Chooz Score of 86.9%. The company has painted homes around Clyde and the greater Asheville area for more than 30 years, and it runs as a family business under owner Dan Portale, who works on jobs himself alongside his son and a small crew. It holds North Carolina certification for lead-based paint testing, removal, and abatement, and it serves Clyde, Asheville, and the surrounding Haywood County towns.

Across its review profiles, Painting America held over 30 Google reviews with a 5.0-star rating, with no other platform carrying rated reviews. Every one of those reviews is five stars, which is easier to sustain at lower review counts than at higher volumes.

Read enough of these reviews and the same people keep turning up. Not different customers saying similar things, the actual same customers, back for the next project. One opens with "2nd time using Paint Asheville." Another calls it "the second time we used PaintAsheville," a year after the crew handled her home exterior. Robin Steinberg counts hers as the fourth. Logan Trifone lists three separate jobs, high interior walls, popcorn ceiling removal, and an outdoor fence.

The Chooz Score's customer retention indicators rated strongly here, with nearly one in five reviewers describing repeat or long-term use, and the pattern holds across homes and commercial jobs. Mary O'Brian is a clean example. She'd hired the company before for two renovated bedrooms and a bathroom, then came back for her home's exterior and the vaulted ceiling in her living room. By the company's own account, most of its work now comes from repeat customers and referrals.

What stands out about Passion Painters is how quickly the reputation came together. The last time we ran our Chooz Score analysis, the company held a 4.9-star rating across nearly 50 Google reviews, with nearly every one of them landing at five stars. That's a hard average to hold, and it earned Passion Painters a Chooz Score of 82%. The reviews come from all over the Asheville and Western North Carolina area, and the company stays visible beyond Google too, with an active presence on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. What you won't find is padding. Read them in order and the same words keep surfacing: professional, courteous, on time, clean.

Tony Sosa, the owner, comes out to walk the property himself before a brush ever touches a wall. His name shows up in review after review, not as a distant boss but as the person running the estimate, picking colors alongside customers, and checking that everyone's happy before the crew packs up. The Chooz Score's owner engagement indicators reflect it: the owner is personally named throughout the reviews and stays hands-on from first call to final coat. On out-of-town jobs, customers describe getting daily photos and progress reports from Tony directly. One homeowner didn't love the blue she'd picked for her bedroom, so Tony bought new paint and had the room redone, no argument. Passion Painters is a locally owned, registered NC business based in Swannanoa, and it shows in how personal the service feels.
