Homeowners in Akron, NY and the surrounding Western New York suburbs have access to several highly rated painting contractors. Across the companies serving this area, reviews highlight consistent themes: responsive communication, clean work habits, and painters who treat every home with care. Here are the top-rated options based on our Chooz Score analysis.
The last time we conducted our Chooz Score analysis, Queen City Painting & Wash had over 100 Google reviews with a perfect 5.0-star rating. This company earned a Chooz Score of 87.1% and also holds an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. Jeff, the owner, handles painting personally while his wife Missy manages all scheduling and client coordination. Reviewers consistently describe a husband-and-wife operation where you deal with the same people from the first call to cleanup. If you want a contractor who handles both interior painting and power washing under one roof, Queen City is a good choice.
What stands out most in the reviews is just how many customers have come back multiple times. Robert Graves is on his third or fourth project. Louis Vinci describes a relationship spanning over 20 years. Karen Schauger hired them for both interior painting and later had her mother's house done. The repeat business speaks for itself, and several reviewers mention Jeff going beyond the original scope without being asked.
- Multiple reviewers mention Jeff squeezing them in ahead of schedule or working around tight timelines, including one homeowner who needed a full repaint within a three-week closing window
- The company employs only W2 workers who have passed background checks, with no subcontractors used on any project
- Commercial clients, including a medical office with an eight-day wallpaper removal and repaint, praise the same quality and professionalism as residential customers
"Queen City will be the only company we ever use for painting. Jeff was phenomenal. We purchased a home that needed fresh paint throughout and only had a 3 week window between closing and our move-in date. Jeff was able to juggle other jobs and squeeze us in." - Zak Piper, Google Review
For homeowners dealing with cracked plaster or damaged ceilings in older Western New York homes, Carrigan Painting offers a specialty most contractors avoid. They earned a Chooz Score of 86.7% with over 50 Google reviews at a perfect 5.0-star rating and are 94% recommended on Facebook. With over 15 years in business, owner Dave Carrigan and his cousin Stacy handle every project personally. If you have an older home with authentic plaster and want someone who will repair it properly rather than cover it with drywall, Carrigan is a good choice.
What sets them apart is the diagnostic skill Dave brings to ceiling and wall problems. Multiple reviewers describe situations where other contractors quoted drywall patches over failing plaster, while Dave identified the actual structural issue and restored the original material. Customers also appreciate that Dave writes detailed estimates on weekends and that the team invites homeowners to review all completed work before they leave.
- Popcorn ceiling removal and pattern matching is a recurring highlight, with customers praising seamless results that leave no visible sign of the repair
- Several reviewers note that Dave and Stacy finish one house before moving on to the next, rather than juggling multiple jobs at once
- When carpet installers damaged freshly painted walls after one project, Dave and Stacy returned to handle touch-ups without hesitation
"Dave & Stacy did such an excellent job on my repair project I am hiring them again for a painting project. We had water damage to our ceiling in front of our fireplace. The water damage caused a hole & soft spot that needed repair." - Sandra Schmid, Google Review
